My decision is…

A few months ago, I attended the London Book Fair in the hopes of gaining more information about publishing.  I was half way through writing my book and was trying to decide whether I wanted to self publish or go down the traditional publishing route.

After many hours of research and painstakingly paying attention to the most intricate detail in all aspects of publishing, I have finally made a decision.  It probably isn’t a surprise for most of you as the tone of my blog has been in favour of it so far.

So my decision is…

Self Publishing!

I have decided to publish my book myself.

Now you might ask, what exactly does that mean?

Does that mean I’m going to set up a publishing house with printers, editors, proof readers, layout professionals and more people with specific titles to get the book ready for production?

Does that mean I’ll be marketing the book myself, calling customers, writing press releases and letting the world know that I’m now an author?

Does that mean I’m going to buy a warehouse to fill with books and handle the packaging, shipping and delivery of each book to the customers?

The answer is yes and no.  I will be doing most of the things above myself but not all.  I have decided to self-publish with the help of a very supportive and experienced team who will deal with the areas that are not my strengths which is almost everything except for the actual writing and some areas of marketing the book.

Before I go into exactly what I have done so far and yet to do, let us start by defining some really simple terms I have had to learn on this journey.

To be continued…

May God bless and keep you in His presence forever, Amen
